Worried about saying the wrong thing?
Mind the Gap is a free, practical card based resource designed to help people move past the fear of saying the wrong thing, and into confident, respectful conversations about race, gender, disability, and other sensitive topics, the very discussions that shape inclusive learning and working environments where everyone can thrive. Created by an interdisciplinary Cardiff University team and tested with staff and students, the game uses clear prompts across four categories, Do Ask, Don’t Ask, Real Experience, Agree, Disagree, and Complete the Sentence, to spark time limited discussions grounded in gracious conversation and disagreeing well, making it ideal for team meetings, workshops, and teaching sessions, and helping build psychological safety, understanding, and meaningful action.

The game is very good at opening conversations with colleagues that you wouldn't normally have

Well constructed prompts / statements. Good to have time "pressure" to get discussion going.

Very good balance of themes. It’s good to challenge knowledge too ie about protected characteristics

This is such a great game to play in teams. I liked the way everyone takes in turns and the way the cards were phrased. I would like to play this within my department.
